Friday, June 27, 2025, is a professional development (PD) day for elementary school staff.

  • Students in Kindergarten to Grade 8 will not attend school, in person or virtually
  • All Board-operated Extended Day and Youth Development programs will be closed

About Professional Development (PD) Days

PD days are held throughout the school year to provide learning opportunities for school-based staff. This professional learning focuses on providing educators and staff with the knowledge and skills needed to support and enhance student achievement and well being.

Friday, June 27, 2025 – Full Day Session

  • Focus: Examining and determining next steps for the School Learning and Improvement Plans
  • Formats: In-person
  • Learning delivery methods: In-person with a combination of whole group, and small group discussions and planning
  • Presenter(s)/Facilitator(s): Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB)
  • Schools Participating: All Elementary schools

Content of Staff Learning

  • Each school will use their individual school learning and improvement plans as anchors
  • Clevr software training
  • New Maze training and review of Oral Reading Fluency Assessment tool for applicable staff
